This week features an unfortunate menu typo, a killer owl and a guy on the verge of being pummeled by a gorilla.

Welcome to the third weekly installment of the best pictures I saw during my meandering journeys around the Internet this week. Here is the Best Picture I Saw This Week…

Second runner up: It’s full of what?

I’ve covered accidentally offensive products before and I’m happy to be the go-to repository for such photos. This photo was sent to me by my friend Bruce. A friend of his took it at a fancy Manhattan restaurant. I’m sure the restaurant is trendy, but this typo almost makes it TOO trendy.

First runner up: Beware of the owl

This comes from a park in Salem, Oregon where an angry owl has attacked so many joggers that they had to create a custom warning sign. I love the aesthetic here — it looks just like every other warning sign, only with unique, ridiculous imagery.

The winner!

This was a photo taken in Rwanda literally less than a second before this gorilla punched the nature photographer in the face. You can see more photos from the series here, but this is really everything a photograph is supposed to be: Good composition, great color and light, cool depth of field, guy about to get punched in the face by a gorilla. I hope this photo wins a Pulitzer in the eternal “Football in the Groin wins the film festival” spirit.
