The best pictures I saw this week include a Super Bowl halftime surprise, crazy kid poetry and a hot taker getting destroyed.

Welcome to the second weekly installment of the Best Picture I Saw This Week, where I do self-explanatory things.

Here is the Best Picture I Saw This Week…

Second runner up: Hi Mom

The overwhelming bulk of social media attention from Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show went to the dancing sharks. But I love this less popular screengrab that circulated a few days later, of a stagehand who made an unscheduled cameo. This is like the super big time equivalent of the five-year-old who’s a tree in his school play and waves to his mom from the stage.

First runner up: Creativity Corner

And with this poem, Gabi has now got to be on some kind of watch list. Meanwhile, message to Lemay Elementary: Your kids need to step their game up. That generic banality won’t cut it anymore.

The winner!

There are few things that give me more joy than sports hot takers getting taken to task for their wild, reckless, irresponsible and ridiculous statements. Clay Travis (who I’d never heard of) is one of Fox Sports’s hot takers. Five years ago, he tweeted a guarantee that DeMarcus Cousins (then at University of Kentucky) would be arrested in the next five years. And DeMarcus Cousins just went full-on Count of Monte Cristo on him. Cousins has clearly been sitting on that tweet, waiting exactly five years to respond when Travis’s “in stone” prediction was proved false. As a visually enticing photo, a screen capture of an Instagram post of a screen capture of a tweet isn’t exactly stimulating — but as an “Eff you” mic drop, it’s pure art.
